Secretive Neighbor
Secretive Neighbor
The day I received my card in class I knew right away who I would help. My neighbors have lived in the house next to mine for fifty years now and they are very close with my grandma, but I have only talked to them a couple times. I recently heard the news that Joan, my neighbor, was diagnosed with Alzheimers. I felt so sad after hearing this considering the fact that my grandpa had passed away a couple years ago from that disease. My grandma tries to help them out as much as she can, but Joan is in the stage where she needs constant attention. Just when I thought that nothing could get worse for this couple, I saw an ambulance pull up to their house, and I later found out that her husband had a stroke. When he returned home, my grandma went over to visit them. she later told me that he has lost a lot of function in his legs. I wanted to do something nice for them, and this project was a perfect opportunity.
I decided to write a little poem on a piece of paper, and decorate it with vibrate colors and pictures. I asked my grandma for some information about what is something that they would like. I discovered that they love the flowers, poinsettias. My grandma also told me that we could run up to the store and buy one for them. After getting this special type of flower from the store, I asked my cousin to help me deliver this to them. I had her knock on the front door while I checked to make sure that they received the gift. I wish that I could have seen their reaction, but I am positive that they loved it.
